* Xochitl Zaragoza is now accepting MediCal clients, including MHN Calviva and Anthem Blue Cross MediCal.

Xochitl has a passion for therapy and believes that the therapeutic bond is a privilege that she gets to be a part of as she gets to walk alongside patients and be with them through some of their toughest times. Xochitl was born and raised in the Central Valley and is the oldest daughter of two immigrant parents from Mexico. Xochitl is the first person in her family to continue with higher education and obtain her Master’s degree.  She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Fresno Pacific University and continued with her graduate studies to obtain her Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fresno Pacific University.

Xochitl has worked with a variety of individuals and specializes in providing therapy services to the Spanish speaking community. She uses Humanistic approaches such as Rogerian techniques of empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence. Xochitl also formulates through an existential theoretical approach and prioritizes exploring those existential questions that may come up in life.  Xochitl enjoys working with children as young as two years of age, all the way through the adolescent years and young adulthood. She incorporates a nondirective play therapy approach with younger children as she believes that play is the language in which children can communicate and explore any issues that may present in their lives.

She has extensive experience working at numerous settings including Omega Mental health and the Marjaree Mason Center, where she specialized in domestic violence cases. While at Marjaree Mason, she completed domestic violence training and also co facilitated groups in the Batterers Intervention Program. During that time, she was able to work both with victims and perpetrator groups and individuals. She also has worked with couples while at Omega Mental Health and during her time at Central Valley Family Therapy, where she gained valuable experience working with young adults and teens, specifically with acculturation issues with their parents.

When not serving her patients and working, Xochitl enjoys spending time with loved ones and outings that include dancing, singing, and music in general.
